Product Description
Pettit Dolfinite Bedding Compounds are heavy bodied compounds for bedding in deck hardware, molding, transoms, keels and shaftlog. These distinctive waterproofing compounds are just right for planking, batten, bedding, caulking and glazing. Dolfinite Bedding Compounds can be used on canvas, glass, metal, fiberglass and wood or wherever two pieces are fitted together and a waterproof, dustproof seal is desired. Pettit Dolfinite Bedding Compounds are far superior to ordinary caulks in their ability to flex and provide years of service.

Surface Preparation
Coating performance, in general, is proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Follow
recommendations carefully, avoiding shortcuts. Inadequate preparation of surfaces will virtually assure
inadequate coating performance. Prior to application, all seams must be clean, dry and free of all dirt,
peeling paint, oil, grease, wax and all other interference materials. If the seam has had compound in it
previously, compound can be used directly in the seam. If the seam is new or has to be routed out,
prime the bare wood with 2018 EZ WoodSealer. Let dry overnight and apply seam compound.
Application Information
Apply with a putty broad‐bladed knife or spatula in sufficient amount to completely fill all voids and to
provide a complete seal against moisture penetration. Compounds are normally used without thinning.
If thinning is required use 120 Brushing Thinner. If the compound is slightly stiff, heating will soften it for
easier application. Under the surface, the compound will remain soft and flexible, suitable for
waterproofing single planked bottoms. On double planked hulls where canvas is not used, apply a liberal
coat of the bedding compound with a serrated trowel on the inner layer before laying up the outer
planking.
